Whitehouse.gov revamp

January 20, 2009

There’s a short article on the whitehouse.gov site update and a campaign promise to put new legislation on the site for public comment.  Pretty cool.

Web Tablet Update

January 19, 2009

TechCrunch just posted their update on their Dead Simple Webtablet.  It’s nice to see they hit their goal of around $200, but they’re saying $299 is more realistic, especially if they want a decent LCD.

I want one!

Originally they were going to open source everything, and it seems they have a lot of people donating time to build drivers and such.  But, it seems like they’re considering moving the project towards production.  Does that mean they won’t supply scematics and software for free for us to build our own?  I really hope not.

How good is your password?

This password “survey” is a little dry perhaps, but the tables are very illustrative. It comes from Bruce Schneier, one of the top security experts out there.

Attack of the Spiders

April 29, 2008

I killed approximately fifteen spiders this past weekend. Chalk it up to the seasons changing, I suppose, but it sure was getting annoying (and kinda creepy).

So we went out and got some Raid. And I sprayed every entrance to our apartment. I sprayed our vents. Now, we don’t have spiders.

Anyone else experiencing this?

P.S. It did give me an idea for a website though. Apparently “spiders” or variations of the keyword gets 56K searches per day. A lot of those searches are related to identifying which kind of spider is which, but I never found a really helpful web tool. What do you think?

At first I thought this calculator was just corny widgetbait, but I ended up really liking it. If you’re like me and don’t know your Net Worth off-hand, just type in the value of something you do know, such as your car, your current savings, your annual salary, or even your TV. If you really want a shocker, type in the money you spent on your education.

Definitely gives you an appreciation for how much we have.
